Life, Macbeth and a mysterious rash
Oy where to start? Life is having it's ups and down as usual. At the moment I'm trying to register for my classes for next semester and the website has decided that I can't because too many people are using the system right now, but it's only open to seniors right now so that's like 300 people, max...stupid school not setting up the system to handle the load, damn! Along the theme of my classes, all the ones I have next term are required to finish my major, each only has 1 section and two have labs. While scheduling time for my internship has not been affect I can no longer work on Mondays, not sure if work can use me on my 1 truly free evening (Thursdays) or even on my "I'd have to give stuff up" evenings (Wednesday and Fridays) which means half my current paycheck so paying for car insurance (never mind trying to save a little for vet school and apartment next year) may be interesting next semester. Also still finishing up last vet school app which is due the end of the month.
Went to the event Saturday. It was ok, having it in a hallway was really detrimental to the atmosphere though. Macbeth was good, though I was not really in the mood for it. When the play finished I discovered I had acquired a mysterious rash (on my arms, you foul minded things!), it's still here, have no clue what caused it. After Macbeth was, um, interesting.
laurion and I have not had much quality time together since Septmeber-ish. I've been going nuts and so has he. I had decided that since Macbeth ended pretty early we were going to have dinner and alone time after. I dressed all pretty (red silk flowy blouse and tight dark blue jeans, was told I looked like a popular chick from an '80's movie) and I let my hair down (which i hate doing, but I know
laurion likes it that way) and I got many a compliment for my looks. Then things went south.
laurion got invited to a cast get together and wanted to go (but I wasn't invited and wouldn't have wanted to go anyway). As we're trying to figure out what to do
pinkalicat calls and needs to be rescued from the Woburn train station (not my story, so don't ask). In the middle of our rescue attempt
shprintzah calls asking if her boy can use my parking space at the house (at this point I think I'm coming home around 9:30 with no dinner while my sweetie goes to the party so I have a mini breakdown on the phone). Long story short, night was stupid. Got
pinkalicat from Woburn and got her on her way to see her sweetie. Managed to get
shprintzah to accept my parking spot and my honey decided to stay and have dinner with me (dinner happened around 9pm though). I think all is ok now but damn was it exhausting.
Sunday I went to work. Work was very slow so I got to come home early. I watch The Great Muppet Caper and the first episode (not first aired) of Firefly with my housemates. It was nice and relaxing. And now I am heading back into the fray that is currently my life.

I've been suffering from mysterious hive-like things for almost a year now. They are apparently stress related, but Benedryl helps to keep them under control. If your rash keeps up and your doctor is as clueless as mine was, try Benedryl. And *don't* scratch! Trust me on that one. : (

I mostly control it with Claritin, which is pretty effective and has fewer side-effects than Benedryl in the long run. (Benedryl can be habit-forming if you use it too much -- I learned that one the hard way.) And it's not too horribly expensive if you use the generic knock-offs -- I actually use Alavert, which is about half the price of brand-name Claritin.
I've also got a topical ointment which I use when it gets *really* bad, but this generally hasn't been needed since I started on the Claritin...
