I am moving to dream width like so many others. Same name there as here.
For the first time in over a decade I'm going to be in a play. I will be appearing in Verse and Vodka's (http://verseandvodka.com) production of The Madwoman of Chaillot. I had never heard of the play before I auditioned, but now I adore it. If you enjoy good obscure French plays about the evils of greed mixed with reasonably priced drinks then this is the show for you. We'll be at the Arlington Elks Jnuary 30th, 31st and February 6th. Tickets are pay as you will with a suggested donation of $10. House opens at 7 and show starts at 8pm. I recommend getting enough friends together to reserve a table (8 people) and then show up at 7pm with you dinner and enjoy the evening.

At 6:58am our Jaegermonster turned a year old. I had hoped to have something really great to write but honestly like most parents of an active one year old I'm usually too tired to think. It has been at times awful and other times awesome. Mostly it has been a year of awe and awwwww! Watching my son experience things for the first time and learn and grow has been amazing and I look forward to many more years of it.

I posted to facebook, but realized i hadn't said anything over here, my grandfather passed away unexpectedly yesterday.  He went to lay down for a before lunch nap and never woke up again. All in  all not a bad way to go, but it was a surprise and there were no goodbyes (unlike with my other grandparents). He was also my last grandparent left, which leaves me with the uncomfortable reality that my parents are now the oldest generation in my family.

Me(me) too

Comment and I'll say something nice about you. It will make other people happy if you post this as well in your own journal.

This morning like the other mornings this week I got up, read livejournal, and cried. I was hoping that once the day had passed I'd have stopped crying enough to think of something elegant to write but I have no words. A beautiful person is gone, too soon. I was lucky to have known Caitlin and to be able to call her friend.

Fuck you, cancer.

Some stuff has been claimed but some of the original stuff is still available and more has been found. From the original post (which you can see in <lj user="laurion>'s journal) the TV, dorm sized ironing board, glass vase and Easter things are available. Additionally we have a rice cooker to give away, another fan, this time a tall oscillating fan which has a remote (if we can find it)  a giraffe mug and an unopened bottle of diet caffeine-free Coke. I don't have pictures of any of the new stuff. If I find the time to take them i will add them. Items need to be claimed an picked up before Sunday August 29th or they will be going to the Salvation Army.

Free stuff

Chad and I are moving and in a different post will be the adventure that was buying our home. Here I'd like to point you to all the stuff that we're giving away because we don't need it for one reason or another. Conveniently Chad has posted descriptions and pictures in his lj so I don't have to. All I need to do is point you to that post, so here you are... take our stuff

Family Fun

Yesterday my entire family (parents, both sibs and their SOs, the niece and one of my local aunts and her husband and kids) and C. and I all went to the Topsfield Fair. Yes it was raining the whole time, and my niece was grumpy, but we actually managed to have a nice day of it. My mom had planned the expedition weeks ago and gotten tickets so rescheduling wasn't really an option. We ate ourselves full on fair food, including fried dough (of course) and maple sugar cotton candy, which is awesome. We dropped by Prospect Hill Forge's set-up and said hi. My niece was so enthralled by the smithing, that only the promise of going to pet some of the farm animals could lure her away from the forge, which is high praise from a two year old.
We bought things we did and didn't need and saw the nearly 1500Lb pumpkin that won the prize for largest this year. We have more local honey and I stared in wonder at the 60lb buckets of it that could be purchased (for only $198.00) and wondered who would actually use that much.
We also ran into [livejournal.com profile] learnedax and [livejournal.com profile] cat9 on our way out. All in all it was a great time, though probably would've been better if it had been a bit less soggy, though for once it was easy to get to and the parking lot wasn't full.
Tonight I met my parents for dinner at Casa de Pedro and then we went and saw the latest Boston Babydolls (bostonbabydolls.net)show, Wrathskellar, at the Arsenal Center for the Arts. I got home and started listing my favorite acts for [livejournal.com profile] laurion (he's helping out with the show) and realized I had listed more than half of the performances. I always love the Babydolls' shows but this one is really excellent. Darker than their normal but also extrememly funny. If you can make it tonight or tomorrow I highly recommend it (tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/69833).

Last night about twenty minutes after I went to bed C. and I heard a weird sound. In the hallway I found both my cats with a corncob they had stolen off the counter. About a quarter of the corncob was missing. I thought it likely that Ozy was the culprit, but couldn't rule out Tica, so I packed them both up and headed out to Tufts. Rads showed a lot of food in their tummies, no obstruction at that time. They each got a shot to induce emesis. As suspected Tica did not eat the corncob. Ozy had gobbled a quarter corn cob in a short period of time and had no chewed it very well. I think it all came out though he is being watch today just in case. The ER agreed that Ozy must be part Labrador, because corncob is a common cause thing to see in the "ate an inappropriate item" catagory of patient, but no one had seen it in a cat before.

So a few hundred dollars later and both my cats seem fine. I'm very glad I had a place to bring them ( and that my student discount was still in effect). I could do with never having even a tiny emergency with them again though.

All done

Getting all of my patients home for the holidays so I did not have to wake up at 6am this morning and go in. I got to relax and wake up with my husband and our cats, it was wonderful.

Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one reason why I like you.[Continue as you will]
Tomorrow there will be synchronized national protests against prop 8. East Coast protests start at 1:30pm, there is one at city hall in Boston, more info here http://jointheimpact.wetpaint.com/page/Boston

I'm not positive I can go (life unfortunately comes first and I have a bunch of stuff that needs doing around the house tomorrow), but I thought I'd let people who might be free and interested know.

Below is the last verse and chorus of one of my favorite hymns, it seems appropriate...

Come dream a dream with me
Come dream a dream with me
Come dream a dream with me
That I might know your mind

And I'll bring you hope
When hope is hard to find
And I'll bring a song of love
and a rose in the winter time

There is a rose in my backyard blooming this week, I kid you not (hopefully I'll get a picture of it to post later).
