So this weekend [livejournal.com profile] laurion and I finally got around to celebrating our 1 year dating anniversary (which was St. Patrick's day but we've been busy). We had big plans of going to Blue Man Group and Old Sturbridge Village, but that didn't happen. Friday night we had a quiet dinner at a Venezuelan restaurant in Watertown Square called Casa di Pedro. Besides the fact that the food was excellent and the service was quite good I would recommend this place on the chocolate flan alone, it was smooth and deliscious absoultely wonderful (if you don't like chocolate they have coconut and caramel too). Then we went home and cuddled a bit and turned in early for some much needed sleep. In the morning I got up around 8am and cooked breakfast while i let my honey sleep in a bit. We had crepes with strawberries and whipped cream and sausages. That combined with the spring bouquet I got [livejournal.com profile] laurion made the greyish day down right spring like. My sweetie did the cleaning up and then we decided to go back to sleep and didn't get up until 1. We then went to the Paine and Lyman estates (historical houses in Waltham) and did some hiking in the woods. We watched "Men at Work" at home and then had dinner at The Skellig. The live music was nice but not worth the noise, smoke and poor swervice. The food was okay but just pub food. We went home for left over strawberries and whipped cream, watched Teen Titans and went to bed early to get me to work on time in the morning. Oh and my fabulous dear got me a picnic set as an anniversary gift, which means I must go one more picnics. I had a wonderful time.
Today I did work. I went to my health center and confused them by asking for a blood test for a zoonotic disease I may have come in contact with through work. Nothing to serious, treatable with penecillin and not likely I have it but I'd like to make sure. The information I've read said it's not human to human transmisable so be not afraid to come near me ( at least not for this reason) and I'll have the results in a few days. The poor nurse I saw had to call the disease control center or some such place to find out what test she needed to order. It was somewhat funny. My mom's of course worried but I think I've re-assured her that I'll be fine. Mom says Grandma is doing okay if extremely tired. She's half way through the chemo and their halting it to check and see if it's helping. She's wicked tired and my aunt is freaking out about it. she keeps calling my dad in hysterics about Grandma, but he seems to be dealing with the whole situation pretty well. Everyone adores my Grandma, she was like a second mother to my mom (the woman who was like her first mother was her grandma, my mom's mother is not a much missed woman), it's going to hit everyone really hardf when she passes, but she's 89, has cancer and my Grandpa passed last year, so she's not really clinging too hard to life and I think we're all preparing the best we can. On the other hand despite being tired she's also cheerfull and industrious when awake.
On the cat update, my poor dying cancer kitty is about a month from her 18th birthday and seems remarkably spry. My mom left the driver's side window of the car half-open Friday afternoon and we came out to find Miss- "I'm too old to jump put me on the counter so i can drink out of the sink" lying in the back seat sunning herself. Same old uppity calico right to the last, it does a heart good to see. Well I should be off to bed. I'm sure I'll get around to more posting soon.
