Bok

I haven't gotten a chance to write until now but Saturday I got to see Gordon Bok, live, in my church's sanctuary. It was really good, I loved it and he played a lot of stuff I had not heard (the man has a huge repetoire after 32 years as a folk artisit so that is not surprising). I did find myself fighting the urge to fall asleep since I literally grew up listening to his records and so often had them as naptime music (Irish drinking songs will make me nod off in a minute for the same reason). I now have a signed copy of Turning Towards the Morning, which has been a favorite album of mine since childhood (the other two my parents have on vinyl are Bay of Fundy and The Ways of Man, hopefully I can get these on cd eventually, though I think one of them may be out of print) I also got Bok, Trickett and Muir the first 15 years, which is a two disc set. i like the 3 of them together, though my mom has some cd's of just Bok or Bok with other people and those are also good. My mom got Home to the Harbor which I'll have to steal at some point. All in all it was pretty fun. The only really bad thing is that the Globe is refusing to run announcements for the Homegrown Coffehouse in it's calendar section which makes it hard to get an audience (though not for Bok, there were about 120 people there I would say).
