I had a very nice and quiet Spring Break. It started out with my white coat ceremony last Friday which was fun as well as a mile stone. Since i told my mom she needn't bring me flowers she instead brought me 3 assorted flours. I now have 2lbs each pastry, wheat and organic unbleached white. Will need to find time to bake.

After the ceremony we went to dinner at Stone's Public House in Ashland. It was lovely. The building is from the 1800s and is supposedly haunted (though I didn't have time to read the story). There is a cozy pub half and a somewhat more elegant dinning room which we had to ourselves the first half hour or so. The food is what my parents call "haut comfort". Classic comfort food done really well. I had roasted chicken with grilled asparagus over mushroom risotto. It was just wonderful, though huge (it was half a chicken). I highly recommend it and can't wait for en excuse to go back.

After dinner C. went home and cared for the cats while my parents and I went on to the Gordon Bok show. It was lovely, though he's obviously getting old and forgets words to songs in the middle and has to pause. Despite being a life long fan and owner of many of his albums I only knew 3 songs in the whole show. I very nearly passed out as it was warm and I was full and he started in on "Isle Au Haut Lullaby", which my mom often used to put us to sleep as children. All in all it was a wonderful time.

We relaxed and did some around the house work over the weekend, with a break for [livejournal.com profile] tpau's birthday party on Saturday. The party was much fun.

During the week I leisurely tackled a large to-do list, including finishing an apron for my mother and starting a quilt for the cousin of C.'s that just announced her pregnancy. Also cleaned the house, saw the dentist and eye doctor and various other things that needed doing. Also found time to read a book.

On Monday I met up with [livejournal.com profile] rufinia and finally saw Juno. It was excellent and we had a lovely chat over ice cream afterwards. The ice cream was supposed to be coffee, but Starbucks decided that it was closed even though it's sign said it was open for another hour.

Wednesday I had dinner and watched Stardust with all my bridesmaids except [livejournal.com profile] devoken who was unable to make it, but was missed. The movie loses nothing it's 5th time around and having a silly girl's night is still a great way to spend an evening.

Yesterday was spent at my parents assembling our wedding invites (we're doing our own and putting them together was quite a task), which was followed by dinner at Blue in Needham (also a recommend source of good quality comfort food).

Today was C. and my 5 year dating anniversary and to celebrate he finally took me to see Blue Man Group (he'd planned to our first anniversary but had not tried to get tickets enough in advance). I had never been and I had an absolutely fabulous time. I highly recommend it as a fun time out. After the show I took C. to dinner at McCormick's and Schmick's, below the Park Plaza hotel. The food was really good and I love that they tell you where the Seafood is from and what is fresh that day. The service was unfortunately subpar, but I'd be willing to try again, as it may have just been our server. It was a really nice night out and a good way to wrap up a productive, yet relaxing week.
