So yesterday was bad...really really bad... and it was long so I'll just let those who really want to know read on.
I woke up on time and showered but then crawled back into bed and fell asleep, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I had been up until 3:30am on Friday cooking and then had a long busy Saturday so even 8 hours of sleep Saturday night did not realieve my exhaustion.I had also woken up with a sore throat/earache and hoped a little more sleep would help. The upshot was that I was almost late for work and got no breakfast. At work there were 4 incredibly disgusting and messy cages for me to clean first thing. I cleaned them, grabbed a small cold cup of coffee and 3 munchkins (brought in the night before) and got cracking with the day. Our new doctor is really nice, way better than the old one. The owner of the practice was in to do a surgical fracture repair on a dog that required four pins to be put in its leg, and though his wife came in to be his surgical tech (she's qualified, it's a very family run practice) our nursing supervisor was also needed. It also took around an hour to do morning treatments. X-rays and other things that needed multiple techs also needed doing all day, there are only three of us on Sundays, upshot? I set up every appointment, cleaned the exams rooms between and cleaned about a dozen really gross messes in the back. In fact I got 5 stickers for gross clean-ups yesterday. I also helped wash a really big dog who made a really disgusting mess. I cleaned the disgusting doggy cage and cleaned the gurney we moved the doggy to the sink on. Then cause evening treatments took so long I collected all the trash, took all the weeks garbage to the front by myself and cleaned the whole hospital except for the vacuuming which was kindly done by others. I did the laundry and the dishes fed the practices cats and gave them their treatments and then help my supervisor print up information for the new tech who is starting today. I, like everyone else, was immensely grateful that the owner of the dog that had a foreign body in its belly decided not to have do surgery until today. The end result was that I worked for 9 and a half hours, never managed to get a lunch break (though I did get a coke) and didn't get to Wellington station until 7pm. I had taken a 2 minute break from my day to call [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and tell him that I need to see him cause I needed a hug from my sweetie. He told me he was busy with TMA casting until about 8pm or so but afterward we could get dinner, I told him that was good and if I got off from work later than 7pm I'd head straight out to meet him at Alewife. At wellington station i ran into [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] I told them my woes and where I was headed and they suggested I take the commuter rail from north station. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] has internet on her palm pilot and told me there was a 7:30 train so I decided to hop on it since it stop a short walk from [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] 's house. I managed to just make the train and called [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] he didn't pick up his phone but I figured it was cause he was still in casting , though hopefully nearing the end. Got off the train at 7:55 and walked to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] 's house, got there at 8:15, his car wasn't there, i thought ok things are running a little late, figured it would happen if I came straight out, oh well. I called again and no answer so I walked back to the train station so I could sit. Got there sat a few minutes and call [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] again, it now being 8:45. He picked up, joy! He told me there was about an hour of TMA casting left and I told him where I was and that I was going to go back to school cause it was so late ( he hadn't realized the time or he would've called me). He suggested that I come meet him at Brandeis instead, since I really *really* wanted to see him. I did walk to Brandeis, it took me an hour (of course if I'd known I would have gone one stop further on the commuter rail and been to him by 8:15, but whatever). After wandering for two hours with my backpack full of my weekend stuff I was exhausted and extraordinarily glad to see him. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] took me for subs and then to the T. I got in at 12:30 and collapsed.
On the plus side I got a 92 on my ethics test.
