Woke up in the wee early morning (ok 7am but whatever)got sunscreened, swimsuited and headed to breakfast. After breakfast we went out to a different part of the fringing reef in Graham's harbor and explored. My partner and I found that Nerita peloronta snails are difficult to distinguish from othe rNerita and are not plentiful. We makred the ones we found with bright pink nail polish so we could find them again. My masked leaked and I got salt in my eyes. A contact had been washed out the day before so I had decided to forego them again, which was probably good. due to the severe sunburn on my calves I had to swim in scrubs, which is kind of tricky. ASfter showering and lunching we headed out again. This time we went in the truck. and open beded truck with benches around the bed's perimeter (not legal in US anymore) it was a white ford and we were the review mirrors. We went to some patch reefs out at Rocky point and then founght the current to swim around the point into sand dollar bay. Sand dollar bay is a lovely gentle cove with sand dollars all over the bottom we collect several of them to bring home. We also found a large Sea Pussy, which is like a sea biscuit but not quite. Both are like sand dollers except they are domed instead of flat. We also found a shed lobster carapace and made it talk and dance. Those of us who were tired walked back up the hillside to our clothes. t promptly began to rain at that point, in a cooling tropical kind of way and soon the clouds passed on. We went back up the beach, braved reversing into bushes and almost down a ditch and sped home, most of us with pretty pink clam shells from the beach. My partner and I then returned at the low tide to number the snails and mark their homes, we couldn't find all our Nerita but had plenty of the Tectarius muricatus (periwinkle things) that live above the tide mark. And as previously we showered, got a few minutes of internet, a lecture and then fell asleep in horrible humidity merely because we were too exhausted for anything else. Oh and we saw an osprey on the way to lecture sitting on the water tower.
