There is nothing like cooking (especially for others) to de-grumpify me. [livejournal.com profile] shprintzah and I went shopping and then came home, put on the sound track to Dirty Dancing and started to dance and cook. I made a big pot of chili so she could have dinner, we had some together and as we were packing some up for her to have at work I realized that I'm having dinner at [livejournal.com profile] laurion's tonight and won't be home again until Tuesday morning. Nut monkeys. I'll just have to freeze the chili and use it up over the coming week. Oh well,it's really pretty good and I liked making it.

Well, good chili is one of the few dishes that usually gets better with a little aging. (Says that man who made 3 lbs of it last night.) Indeed, Cook's Illustrated is very explicit about this: their recipe ends with "Serve immediately, or (preferably) leave in the refrigerator for up to five days and eat later."

So just claim that you *meant* to do that, and take credit for Deep Food Knowledge...
